Raku is a Japanese style of pottery first made in the late 1500s. Raku is a technique that removes the clay object from the kiln at the height of firing. The atmospheric reduction process changes the molecular structure of the glazes giving Raku its uniquely lustrous appearance.
Raku ware is mostly found in the form of tea bowls and was originally created for tea ceremonies in Japan. The art form was highly praised by tea masters who appreciated the rustic and unpretentious style. Now you have the chance to create a touch of your own Japanese Raku ware.
Select and glaze two pots of your choice from our workshop storage and witness the magical display of Raku firing.
